Happy Christmas to all who live in
Sacred Heart Parish
“Happy Christmas” is the wish that we share with one another at this time of year; expressing our care and concern for the well being of others; but we know it conveys so much more than that.  It has its origins in the words Christ’s Mass - the Mass of Christmas Day that announces the awesome God breaking into our world and being born as a little child at Bethlehem.

St. John describes Jesus as the ‘Word
of God’ and his birth as the ‘word was made flesh’ - this little gift of St. Luke’s Gospel is the ‘Word of God’ for you and when you read it and allow it to become part of your lives the ‘word is made flesh’ once more.
Christmas is about a child born in Bethlehem more than 2000 years ago; but more importantly it is about allowing Jesus Christ to be born again in our hearts today.

parish community centre
Sacred Heart Parish has for more than 100 years sought to serve the people who live in this part of North Belfast.  Some of the provisions and plant of the parish now need renovation and refurbishment to meet new legislation for ‘Health and Safety’ and ‘Disability Access’.  To meet these requirements, there is a proposal for a new parish
community centre to be built on to Sacred Heart Church in Glenview Street, with the help of the Flax Trust.  This project would also include necessary work to the Church, particularly in regard to the roof and heating; this would leave the Church more comfortable and fit for purpose for the next forty years.
